The most useful free apps for an Indian farmer in 2026 are the government ones: Meghdoot and Mausam for weather, PMKISAN GoI for PM-KISAN status, the Crop Insurance app for PMFBY, and eNAM for mandi arrivals and prices. This list is not a ranking. We checked each app's Google Play page on 30 September 2026 and describe only what its publisher says it does, so you can pick by need.
A warning first: Play Store searches for "Kisan", "PM Kisan" or "crop insurance" also return many private apps with similar names. Install the official ones by checking the publisher name in the table below, and never share your Aadhaar number, bank details or OTP inside an app you cannot identify.
Official and institutional apps

| MP Kisan App | Government of Madhya Pradesh | For MP landowners: certified copies of Khasra, Khatoni and map, self-declaration of sown crops (which then appears provisionally in land records), link khatas with Aadhaar, receive government advisories | 50 lakh+; updated 18 Aug 2026 |
| Raj Kisan Suvidha | DoIT&C, Government of Rajasthan | Information on state schemes and subsidies: eligibility, how to apply and how to claim benefits | 5 lakh+; last updated 7 May 2025 |
Download counts are the buckets Google Play shows, not a measure of quality. Several other states have their own farmer apps; search Play Store for your state's agriculture department as the publisher.
Two helpful services that are not apps
- Kisan e-Mitra: an AI chatbot for questions on PM-KISAN, PMFBY and Kisan Credit Card. You can speak or type in 11 regional languages. The Ministry told Parliament in December 2025 that it handles over 8,000 queries a day and had answered more than 93 lakh. It is reached through the PM-KISAN website and app.
- Kisan Call Centre, 1800-180-1551: a toll-free line, open 6 am to 10 pm on all seven days, where agriculture graduates answer questions in local languages. It is useful when you have no smartphone or weak data.
Apps we did not list, and why
- Kisan Suvidha (the Ministry's older all-in-one app for weather, dealers, market prices and plant protection): we could not find an active Play Store listing on 30 September 2026, so we do not recommend installing it from unknown sources.
- Damini (lightning alerts from IITM Pune): reports say it was removed from Google Play in November 2025. We could not confirm a current replacement, so use Mausam and IMD warnings instead.
- CLAP, Cropic and AIDE are PMFBY apps for officials, surveyors and enrolment intermediaries, not for ordinary farmers.
- Private apps for mandi prices, markets and AI crop diagnosis exist, but we have not tested their accuracy and do not rank them. Check who publishes the app, what permissions it wants, and whether advice matches your KVK's.
How to choose
- Weather and sowing decisions: Meghdoot for crop advisories, Mausam for warnings. Also see our weather page and crop calendar.
- Money and schemes: PMKISAN GoI and Crop Insurance. Check eligibility in the subsidy finder.
- Selling: eNAM for e-NAM mandi data; compare with mandi prices before you sell.
- Soil: ask for your Soil Health Card rather than installing the lab app.
