Can I earn money by selling extra solar power back to the grid under PM-KUSUM Component C?

I have a grid connected electric pump. People say I can solarise it and sell surplus power. How does the income side work?

PM-KUSUM Component C lets you put solar on a grid-connected pump so you use solar power for irrigation and feed the surplus to the grid, which the DISCOM buys at an agreed tariff, giving you a small extra income. After subsidy you install panels suited to your pump, run the pump on solar by day, and a net or gross meter records the surplus exported. The DISCOM pays for that surplus at a power purchase rate fixed by the state regulator, usually through a tariff or a per-unit incentive, so your effective electricity cost falls and you may earn during low-irrigation months. How much you actually earn depends on your panel size, your own consumption, the buy-back tariff and how reliably the DISCOM settles payments, which has been a weak point in some states. The subsidy share, capacity rules and tariff vary by state, so confirm the current Component C terms and the buy-back rate with your DISCOM or state nodal agency.

Maine apne electric pump ko solarise karwaya aur din me solar par chalata hoon, surplus grid me jata hai. Income chhoti hai par bijli ka kharch kam ho gaya. DISCOM ka buy back rate aur payment time se aata hai ya nahi, yeh pehle pooch lena.

In my district the DISCOM payment for surplus power was slow to settle, so do not count on big earnings. The real gain was running the pump free by day and saving on the bill. Confirm the Component C tariff and the settlement record in your state before investing.

One thing to check is your own consumption first, the more you use for irrigation the less surplus you export. Size the panels to match your pump and a little extra. Subsidy share and capacity rules vary by state, confirm with the nodal agency.
