What is the real cost of a solar pump to me after the PM-KUSUM subsidy?

I want to know roughly how much money I actually pay from my pocket for a solar pump after central and state subsidy.

Under PM-KUSUM Component B for standalone solar pumps, the cost is shared between the central subsidy, the state subsidy and the farmer, so your out-of-pocket share is only a part of the full price. In the common pattern the centre and the state each give a substantial share of the benchmark cost and the farmer pays the rest, with some states topping up so the farmer share becomes quite small, and special categories sometimes pay even less. Your actual payment depends on the pump capacity in horsepower, the benchmark cost fixed for that capacity, and how generous your state top-up is, and you can usually take a bank loan for your share. Note that subsidy is calculated on the benchmark cost, so if your chosen pump costs more than the benchmark you pay the full difference. Because the percentages, the benchmark cost and state top-ups change every year, ask your state nodal agency or DISCOM for the current farmer share for your pump size before ordering.

Mere yahan central aur state milakar bahut hissa cover ho gaya, mujhe sirf chhota part dena pada aur wo bhi loan se. Par pump benchmark cost ke andar hona chahiye, warna upar ka paisa apna lagta hai.

A pitfall I nearly hit was choosing a higher capacity pump than my borewell needed, which raised my share. The subsidy is on the benchmark for that capacity, so pick the right horsepower. Ask your DISCOM or nodal agency for the current farmer share for your pump size.

Beyond the up front share, factor in that the solar pump saves the diesel or electricity bill for years, so my real cost over time was much lower than the sticker price suggested. But also keep something aside for cleaning the panels and any repair after the warranty, the vendor will not always tell you that. Ask the nodal agency what after sales and warranty support the empanelled vendor must give before you choose.
