Do small farmers get extra interest subvention on a loan against warehouse receipt after harvest?

I store my crop and take a loan on the receipt. A friend said small and marginal farmers get the same cheap interest as a crop loan for some months. Is that right?

Yes, the interest subvention scheme has a special provision so small and marginal farmers are not forced to sell immediately at low harvest prices. If you hold a Kisan Credit Card and store your produce in an accredited warehouse against a Negotiable Warehouse Receipt, you can get the same concessional interest rate that applies to crop loans for a further limited period after harvest, instead of the higher commercial rate. This gives you a window to wait for better prices while paying cheap interest, provided you meet the small or marginal farmer condition and the loan is within the eligible amount. The extra period, the eligible ceiling and the documents needed are fixed by the scheme and revised from time to time. Ask your bank whether your warehouse is accredited and confirm the current post-harvest subvention period and rate before you store, so you can plan your selling.

Sahi hai, mujhe apne KCC par receipt loan par fasal loan jaisa hi sasta byaj kuch mahine tak mila. Isse maine daam badhne ka intezaar kiya bina mehnga byaj diye. Bank se pucho ki tumhara warehouse accredited hai ya nahi.

One pitfall is that this concession is only for small and marginal farmers within the eligible amount, my larger neighbour did not get it. Also the period is limited, so plan your selling within that window. Confirm the current post harvest subvention period and rate with your bank.

Keep your small or marginal farmer proof and the warehouse receipt ready, the bank needed both to apply the crop loan rate. Also factor in storage charges when you calculate if waiting is worth it. Ask your bank for the current eligible period before you store.
