Bank used to cut crop insurance from my KCC automatically. Now they ask me to choose. I rarely get any claim so I am thinking of skipping it.

Since PMFBY became voluntary, loanee farmers are no longer auto-enrolled, and if you want to skip it you must give the bank a written opt-out before the cut-off date, otherwise the premium may still be deducted. Whether to skip depends on your risk, not just past payouts. The farmer-paid premium is capped at a small share for food and oilseed crops with the government paying the rest, so your out-of-pocket cost is usually low compared to the sum insured. If your area faces real weather risk, one bad year can wipe out far more than several years of premium, which is the point of insurance. If you are in a stable irrigated belt with rare losses, the value is lower. Look at your last several seasons and your crop's exposure before deciding, and remember area-based claims depend on the whole unit, not only your field. This is general information, not personal financial advice.
Maine ek saal opt out kiya aur usi saal sukha pad gaya, bahut pachhtaya. Premium to bahut kam hota hai fasal ke hisaab se. Ab main har saal karwa leta hoon, ek bura saal hi sab premium se zyada nuksan kar deta hai.
If you do want to skip it, remember you must give the written opt out before the cut off, otherwise the bank still deducts the premium. A neighbour assumed silence meant opt out and the premium was still cut. Tell the branch clearly in writing if you decide to skip.
