SMAM (Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization) subsidy is applied for through the central Agri Machinery DBT portal or your state machinery portal, depending on how your state runs it. The usual steps are: register on the portal with your Aadhaar and land details, apply for the specific implement, and if demand is high your application may go into a lottery or first-come selection. On selection you get an approval or token, buy the machine from an approved dealer, upload the bill and machine details, and after physical verification the subsidy is credited to your bank account by DBT. Subsidy is typically a percentage of cost with a higher rate for SC/ST, small, marginal and women farmers. Keep your bank account Aadhaar-seeded so the DBT does not fail.

Punjab me maine portal pe apply kiya, lottery me naam aaya, token mila phir approved dealer se machine li. Bill upload karne ke baad subsidy account me aa gayi.

A big pitfall: do not buy the machine before you get the approval or token. A neighbour bought first thinking he would get subsidy later and the claim was rejected because the purchase was out of process. Wait for selection, then buy only from an approved dealer.
