PM-Kisan goes to the family whose name is in the land records, so a pure tenant or sharecropper who cultivates someone else land but has no land in their own name is generally not eligible. The benefit follows ownership, not cultivation. If you own even a small piece of land in your own name elsewhere, you can register on that basis. Some states have separate schemes that include tenant and landless farmers, so ask your agriculture office about state-level support. For credit, tenant farmers can still get a Kisan Credit Card through a Joint Liability Group or with a registered lease, even though PM-Kisan itself is tied to land ownership.

Main batai pe kheti karta hoon par thodi si zameen mere naam par bhi hai. PM-Kisan us apni zameen ke aadhaar par bana, batai wali zameen pe nahi. To agar aapke naam ek tukda bhi hai to us par registration ho sakta hai.

I am a sharecropper and could not get PM-Kisan, but my agriculture office told me about a state scheme that covers tenant and landless farmers, plus a Kisan Credit Card through a Joint Liability Group. Worth asking at your own block office because each state is different. Confirm the current state scheme details there rather than relying on what someone heard.
