Sapota seed borer damages the fruit from inside near the seed and is hard to detect until you cut the fruit, while the bud worm and leaf webber attack tender growth and flowers. Manage them with regular orchard sanitation by collecting and destroying fallen and damaged fruit and webbed shoots, since these carry the pest forward. Monitor through the flowering and fruiting period and use a labelled insecticide only when needed, timed to the egg-laying and early larval stage, with attention to the pre-harvest interval because sapota is often harvested in flushes. Avoid blanket spraying that harms pollinators. Confirm the spray schedule and approved products with your local KVK or horticulture department.

Picking up and destroying the dropped fruit every few days made a clear difference for us. The borer carries over in those fallen fruits if you leave them.

The bud worm and leaf webber were spoiling our new flush and flowers near Thane, so we clip off and burn the webbed shoots as soon as we spot them. Removing the webbing by hand on a regular round kept the population from building up. Catching it early on the tender growth is much easier than after it spreads.
