For shrimp such as vannamei, PMMSY supports new pond construction and inputs for brackish water aquaculture, but shrimp farming also requires registration with the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA) for coastal areas, which is a separate legal requirement you must complete. As with other PMMSY activities the subsidy is a percentage of a fixed unit cost, typically a higher slab for SC, ST and women and a lower slab for the general category, released after the unit is set up and verified.
