What is Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana and how does it work in MP?

Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana is a Madhya Pradesh price-deficiency scheme. The idea is that when the market price of a notified crop falls below a reference or support price, the government pays the registered farmer the difference, the bhavantar, directly into the bank account, instead of physically procuring the crop. So you sell your produce in the notified mandi as usual, and if the average market price during the notified period is below the model or support price, you receive the gap amount per quintal for the eligible quantity. It applies only to the crops the state notifies for a given season, and only to farmers who register in advance, declare their crop and area, and sell through the recognised mandi process within the notified dates. Because the notified crops, the reference price, the eligible quantity caps, and the registration window change every season, confirm the current details on the official Madhya Pradesh portal or at your mandi or agriculture office before sowing or selling. The scheme protects you when prices crash, but only if you registered and sold within the rules, so the paperwork and timing matter a lot.
