Can an FPO or farmer group get higher MIDH benefits than an individual farmer?

Yes, in several MIDH components groups, FPOs and cooperatives get an advantage. The larger and more capital heavy units, like integrated pack houses, bigger cold storage, ripening chambers and primary processing, are easier to take as a group because the project size, the bank loan and the volume of produce all fit a collective better than one small farmer. Some components are also designed for community or cluster use, like a shared pack house or a common cold room serving many growers. FPOs can also club individual members area to meet minimum size requirements that a single farmer cannot reach alone. The subsidy percentage on a given component may be the same, but the access to the bigger components and the ability to handle the loan and back ended cash flow is much better as a group. The exact components open to FPOs, any special enhanced assistance, and whether your FPO is registered and eligible all vary by state, so check your state horticulture portal and discuss with the district horticulture office which collective components have targets this year.
