A mobile soil testing van is a vehicle fitted as a small soil lab that comes to villages so farmers do not have to travel far. Under the Soil Health Card scheme and various state programmes, these vans and mini-labs visit clusters of villages on a schedule, collect or test samples, and help generate cards locally. To get one to your area, the request usually goes through the village or block level. Ask your gram panchayat, your agriculture extension worker or block agriculture officer to include your village when the van route is planned, and gather a group of farmers, vans are sent where many samples are waiting, not for a single field. Watch for announcements from the panchayat and KVK about camp dates. When the van comes, bring a correctly collected sample with your details, or let the team collect it. Confirm the schedule and how to register your village with your block agriculture office, since routes and timings differ by district.
Our sarpanch collected names of about thirty farmers and then the van was sent. Going as a group is the trick, they will not come for one person.
