Where is the nearest soil testing lab and how do I find it?

Most districts have at least one government Soil Testing Lab, usually attached to the district agriculture office, a Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) or the State Agriculture University. The quickest way to find the nearest one is to ask your block agriculture officer or KVK directly, they will tell you the lab for your area and whether a mobile soil testing van visits your block. You can also check the Soil Health Card portal at soilhealth.dac.gov.in, which lists registered labs. Apart from the static labs, the scheme also runs mobile soil testing vans and mini-labs that come to villages on a schedule, and some KVKs and agriculture colleges run their own labs. Many states now also have lab lists on the state agriculture department website. Before you travel, phone the lab to confirm timings, whether they are accepting samples right now, and how to submit the sample, because some labs only test through the official sampling drive and not walk-in samples.
