Component C, which is for pumps that already have a grid electricity connection, is delivered in two broad ways and it helps to know which one your state is using. The first is individual pump solarisation, where a solar system is added to your specific agricultural connection so that your pump runs on solar in the day and you can export surplus, with the subsidy structure similar to the standalone scheme. The second is feeder level solarisation, where the DISCOM solarises the entire agriculture feeder that supplies many pumps at once, by putting up a solar plant to power that feeder, rather than adding panels at each individual farm. In the feeder model the farmer does not get panels on their own field, but the agricultural supply on that feeder is backed by solar, often giving more reliable daytime power, and several states have leaned towards this route because it is easier to manage at scale. So what it means for you depends on the route your DISCOM has chosen: under individual solarisation you deal with panels and possibly export income on your own connection, while under feeder solarisation you mostly benefit from steadier daytime supply without owning panels. Which route applies in your area, and whether individual Component C applications are open, is decided by your DISCOM, so confirm with them before assuming you will get your own panels.
Our DISCOM went the feeder route, so no panels on my farm, but daytime supply for irrigation became far more reliable. Ask your DISCOM which model they picked before you plan.
