I want to do PM-Kisan new farmer registration myself online instead of going to an agent. Can someone explain the step by step process on the portal, what details I need to fill, and what documents to keep ready?

You can self register on the official pmkisan.gov.in portal under the Farmers Corner section, look for the New Farmer Registration option. Keep these ready before you start, your Aadhaar card, a bank passbook or account details (account number and IFSC), your land record details like khasra or survey number and area, and a mobile number, ideally the one linked to your Aadhaar. The general flow is this. Open the farmer registration page and choose rural or urban farmer registration as per your area. Enter your Aadhaar number and mobile number and verify with the OTP and the captcha. Then fill the form with your state, district, block and village, your personal details exactly as in Aadhaar, your category, your bank account number and IFSC, and your land details. Submit and note down your registration number. After submission your application goes to the state and district for verification of your land record and eligibility, so it is not instant. You also have to complete eKYC, either by OTP at the time of registration or later through the portal, CSC or the face authentication app. Two tips. Make sure your name in the form matches your Aadhaar and your land record exactly, and make sure your Aadhaar is seeded with your bank account for DBT, otherwise the money will not credit even after approval. If you are not comfortable doing it online, a CSC can do the same registration for a small charge. Track the status later using the beneficiary status option on the same portal.
I did mine online last year. The land detail part needs your survey number correctly so keep the 7/12 ready. After applying it took some weeks for verification, be patient.
Note your registration number somewhere safe, you need it for every status check and grievance later.
