Kodo millet gives a modest yield of a few quintals per acre on poor land with low inputs, so the return relative to cost can be reasonable for dryland growers. The big change is demand, since the millet mission, government procurement in some states, and the health food trend have lifted interest and prices for kodo and other small millets above their old low levels. Processing into dehusked grain, flour and ready products fetches much more than raw grain. Profit is improving but depends on access to a dehuller and a buyer. Check the current rate, any state procurement and FPO buyers, and ask your KVK for realistic yields and processing options before deciding.

The rate for kodo is finally worth something with the millet push. Getting it dehulled and selling the clean grain or flour pays far more than raw. Our FPO helps with the processing and buyers.
