Almost all landholding farmer families whose names appear in the land records are eligible for PM-Kisan, regardless of how much land they own. The benefit goes to the family (husband, wife, and minor children) as one unit. However, several groups are excluded: income tax payers, serving or retired government employees (except Class IV/Group D staff), professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers and CAs, holders of constitutional posts, and pensioners drawing Rs 10000 or more per month. If you qualify, register at pmkisan.gov.in under New Farmer Registration or visit your nearest CSC with Aadhaar, bank passbook and land papers. Complete eKYC after registering, or the installment will not be credited.

Ek baat jo log nahi samajhte: agar pati income tax bharta hai to puri family ineligible ho jaati hai, chahe jameen patni ke naam ho. Hamare gaon me aisa hua tha.

If the land is still in your late father's name and has not been transferred (mutation/intkal) to you, you can face problems during verification. I got my mutation done at the tehsil office first, then registered, and it went smoothly. Worth sorting out the land record before applying.

A common confusion is that PM-Kisan is per person. It is not. The whole family gets Rs 6000 together as one beneficiary unit, so do not apply twice from one household thinking you will get more, it will only get flagged later.

If you are unsure whether your category counts as excluded (for example a part-time pension or a small government honorarium), do not guess. Ask at your block agriculture office or CSC and let them check your case, because taking money you are not entitled to can mean a refund demand later.
