Grafted nutmeg usually starts bearing in about 4 to 6 years and reaches full bearing around 8 to 10 years, while seedlings take longer and may turn out male. A mature tree commonly yields a few hundred to a couple of thousand fruits a year depending on age, variety and care, with old well grown trees giving more. From each fruit you get one nutmeg and a small amount of mace, and mace is much lighter so a tree gives far less mace than nutmeg by weight, which is why mace is priced higher. Yields keep rising as the tree ages and a healthy tree produces for decades. Keep figures as a range and confirm typical local yields with growers and KVK in your area.

My grafted trees started giving a useful crop around year five and just keep increasing. The old trees in my grandfather's garden still bear heavily. It is a long term asset.
