How to protect stored grain from insects and rats in a farm godown?

Stored grain is lost to insects like weevils and moths and to rats, but good practice keeps losses low. Start clean: empty and clean the godown before new grain goes in, because old grain residue carries over the infestation. Store only well dried grain, since damp grain is far more prone to insects. Use clean, sound bags or bins and seal them well; airtight metal bins and good hermetic storage bags protect grain very effectively because insects cannot survive without air. Stack bags on a raised platform away from the wall so air moves and damp does not creep up, and so you can inspect underneath. Block rat entry, keep the surroundings clean, and use rat control measures around the store. Inspect regularly and act at the first sign of insects or webbing. If you use any fumigation or grain protectant, follow the label and safety rules strictly and keep it away from grain you will eat soon, because these are chemicals.
