I want to take seed from the government instead of private shops but I do not know the process. How do I get seed from the krishi vibhag?

Government seed is distributed mainly through the agriculture department (krishi vibhag), the State Seed Development Corporation outlets, KVKs and, in many states, an online or app-based booking system before each sowing season. The usual steps are: visit or contact your block or village agriculture office (or the state agriculture portal) before the season starts, register or book the crop, variety and quantity you need, carry your Aadhaar, bank passbook and land record (khasra/khatauni or land details), and collect the seed from the assigned counter on the given date after paying the subsidised price. Some states first take demand from villages and then allot seed, so booking early matters because popular varieties run out. Always collect a proper bill and the seed tag. Because portals, dates and document lists differ by state and season, confirm the exact procedure and the active counters with your block agriculture officer or KVK.
In Haryana I booked through the department's online system and got an SMS for the collection date. Smooth once you register early.
Take the land record copy along. The counter near me refused those who came without proof of land.
