Pick the mandi by net price in hand, not just the headline rate. Compare the recent prices for your crop and grade across the nearby mandis, which you can check on eNAM or the price portals, then subtract the transport cost to each mandi and the local charges, since one mandi may quote a higher rate but charge more or be farther. Also consider how active the buying is at each mandi, because a mandi with many buyers and online bidding gives better price discovery than a thin one, and whether the mandi is an eNAM integrated mandi where you may get direct payment. For notified crops, also check which mandi has the MSP procurement centre if you plan to sell at MSP. For perishables, distance and handling matter more because quality drops on a long haul. So weigh rate, charges, transport, buyer activity and perishability together. Confirm current rates and charges for each mandi before loading.
