My KCC is a few years old. How does renewal work, do I have to repay everything first, and what does the bank check at review?

A KCC is usually sanctioned for five years but the limit is reviewed every year, so you have an annual review and a fuller renewal at the end of the term. For the cheap interest and to keep the account regular, you should clear the amount you drew within the year, normally before the due date that matches your crop cycle. Many farmers repay the full outstanding once after harvest and then draw again for the next season; this keeps the account in order and protects the subsidised rate. At the annual review the bank checks that the account has been operated, that drawings were repaid on time, and may step up your limit by around 10 percent for cost inflation. At the five-year renewal they take fresh land records and updated KYC. You do not always need a brand new application, but you do need a clean repayment record. Exact review and renewal practice differs between banks, so ask your branch what they need and when your due date falls.
Main har saal fasal bechne ke baad pura paisa jama kar deta hoon aur agle season ke liye dobara nikal leta hoon. Isse account regular rehta hai aur sasta byaaj milta rehta hai.
At my five-year renewal the bank asked for fresh khatauni and a new photo. I kept these ready so it was done in one visit. Do not let renewal lapse, an expired card is treated like an overdue account.
