I need the map of my plot showing its boundaries and the neighbouring numbers, not just the text record. How do I get the village map?

The map you want is the cadastral or village map, called shajra, musavi, or tippan in different states, and the plot-level map sometimes called the field map. It shows each khasra or survey number with its shape, boundaries and the neighbouring numbers. Many states now provide these maps online on the land records or a separate cadastral map portal, where you can search by survey or khasra number and view or download the plot map. Where it is not online, you can apply for a certified copy of the shajra or a plot map at the revenue or settlement office. These maps are very useful before buying land, for boundary disputes, and for planning. A caution: the map gives shape and relative position, but for an exact ground boundary you still need an official measurement. Confirm the map portal or the application process at your tehsil or settlement office.
Our state has the maps online and I matched my plot shape with the neighbours before buying. It saved me from a plot where the shape on the map did not match what the seller showed.
