How should I pack fruits and vegetables for export and what kind of container is used so they reach fresh.

Fresh produce export needs the cold chain from farm to destination. Typical packaging is corrugated fibreboard (CFB) cartons or ventilated crates sized to the buyer's and the market's standard, often with liners, padding or punnets for delicate fruit like grapes and berries. The fruit is pre-cooled soon after harvest to remove field heat, graded to uniform size and quality, and packed in a clean packhouse. For sea export you use a reefer (refrigerated) container set to the right temperature and sometimes controlled or modified atmosphere for long voyages. Label cartons with product, grade, count, net weight, packhouse code and country of origin, and follow any specific labelling the destination country requires. Talk to your packhouse and exporter about the exact carton spec and temperature for your crop and destination, because each fruit and market differs.
Pre-cooling right after harvest is the step many skip. Field heat ruins shelf life. We pre-cool the same evening before packing.
Reefer temperature must match the crop. We once set it wrong and the fruit arrived overripe. Get the right setting from your exporter for each commodity.
