I want to plan my farm around something that exports well. Which Indian agri products have strong and steady export demand.

India is a major exporter of basmati and non-basmati rice, spices (chilli, turmeric, cumin, pepper), buffalo meat, marine products, and several horticulture items like grapes, pomegranate, banana, mango, and onion. Within fresh produce, grapes and pomegranate have built strong export systems, and processed items like guar gum, castor oil, and value-added foods also do well. But strong national export demand does not automatically mean profit for you, because it depends on your region's quality, your ability to meet residue and quality standards, cold chain access, and current government export policy (which can restrict items like onion and rice). My honest advice: do not switch your whole farm based on export hype. Pick a crop that already grows well in your area, check if there is an exporter or FPO nearby buying it, understand the standards, and start small. Confirm current export trends and any restrictions on the APEDA and DGFT portals.
Spices are steady. We supply chilli and turmeric to an exporter every year. Demand is there but they reject lots with high pesticide or aflatoxin, so quality is everything.
Do not plant only for export. Onion farmers got hurt when the export ban came. Keep a domestic option also.
